Welcome to Lime Tree Farm!

Lime Tree farm, near Grewelthorpe, is situated on a sandstone ridge at the edge of the Vale of York. To the south the land falls away, merging into the arable fields of the plain, while to the north and west there are rolling heather moors. To the east lie the rivers Ure and Swale.

In historical terms the area holds a Roman encampment at Camp Hill, an impressive location with clear views for up to 50 miles on three sides. Nestled on lower ground between the two rivers can be found evidence of late Neolithic habitation in the form of groups of henges. One of those groups is at Thornborough, and consists of three henges sited in a line within a one-mile stretch, showing that this area was richly populated in Neolithic times.

Until 1987 Lime Tree Farm was a working dairy and mixed farm but under the management of Peter and Irene Foster the land has been given over to conservation. New hedges have been planted, ponds made, nesting boxes positioned at many points on the land, including within a very special woodland area, and a badger set and bird hide has been built recently incorporating a teaching area.

Lime Tree farm has developed its own character as a conservation area and as a spiritual sanctuary. Many diverse groups regularly hold gatherings at Lime Tree Farm including:
